It depends a lot of the condition, COA, quality of the signature, etc...however, 1927 was a big year for the Yankees and for Ruth and his salary (I believe this was the year of his unheard-of $100, 000 salary). His checks usually go for between 2,000 to 3, 000 at auctions, and maybe a little more in a shop. If you are lucky enough to have one, and you don't need the money, keep it! There are a finite number of checks out there, and the Bambino isn't signing anymore!

The Newspaper clipping could have some value to someone but not much. The more complete the publication the more value it will bring. If the clipping has the name of the newspaper on it, more value. If it is a full page even more, and the complete newspaper the highest value. The problem with old newspapers is that the paper used is very low quality. They are very sensitive to the acid in the air causing foxing (browning) and the paper becomes brittle, and will flake away in time.
