Value of Sports Personality US Postage StampsScott Number #4083 - Mickey Mantle

The Mickey Mantle stamp is one of a set of four that featured Baseball Hall of Famers Mickey Mantle, Roy Campanella, Hank Greenberg and Mel Ott on the 39-cent "Baseball Sluggers" postage stamps. They can be purchased for $1.50 each new. If unused, they are still valid for face value as postage. To a collector they may be worth a dollar or two in mint condition. These are fairly common stamps.

Hank Aaron is still living. Given that the US does not issue stamps depicting living persons, there is no US issued stamp with Aaron on it. Some countries have issued stamps to capitalize on the sports collectors, most stamp collectors are not interested in such commercial items.

~*~Actually there IS a Hank Aaron Stamp. First day of issue was Dec. 21 1992. It was a $2 Hank Aaron, St. Vincent & the Grenadines postage stamp and then there was also a $10 23karat gold stamp released at the same time in '92 (depicting the April 16, 1964 Houston/Owens away game. I believe about 400 of those exist, only because I have one and it says "#343 of Four" hundred I assumed...or thousand? Anyways, although I don't know the value, I saw one (autographed) on eBay for $120. But that is for the golden stamp.

Signatures will vary in price based on condition, the type of authenticity that accompanies the signature, the item signed, and how well the item displays the signature. Baseballs are the most common, and preferred by collectors because of it's connection to the game, low cost, availability and it displays the signature well. The signed baseball represents the average price for a signature, and by deducting or adding from this price for the Item signed accordingly will give you a good idea on value.

The lowest priced signed item would be for a "cut Signature." A cut signature is a signature on a piece of paper, or "cut" from a larger piece. Index cards are the next step up, and both sell at a fraction (about 10%-20%) the price of an autographed baseball. Autograph photos typically sell at about 40-60 percent the price of a baseball with bats, uniform Jersey's and equipment selling at a higher price due to the higher cost of the item, rarity and display.

In general if an autographed baseball is worth $100. the same autograph on a 8x10 photo $50. a cut signature $20. on a bat $150. The percentage of the price could also vary based on the popularity of the player, and how sought after the signature is.

A Mickey Mantle single signed baseball is worth about $400.-$600. Price will vary based on condition, and type of authenticity that accompanies the signature. Rare examples of pristine signatures or inscriptions like "The Mick" "HOF 1974" or 536 HR's" could raise the price to the $1,000. price range. Personal inscription like "Good luck Mike" could sell below $400. A rarely signed full name signature "Mickey Charles Mantle" will break the $2,000 price mark as it did in a May 5th 2007 live eBay auction selling for $2,390. A signed photo sells between $150.-$300.

After condition the type of authenticity that accompanies the signature will dictate the price. Mickey Mantle was under contract with the Upper-Deck company before he passed away. Baseballs that have the Upper deck hologram could sell in the $1,000.-$1,500. price range. signatures that have not been authenticated could sell at half the market value or less.

The value of a multi signed baseball cannot be priced by the value of each signature added up. Multi signed baseballs are valued as a group of signatures, and how desired that group is as a whole. This does not necessarily mean that two signatures will sell for less than one, but in most cases it does, or at least not the full value of the two signatures added up. Duke snider short of a Willie, Mickey, and the Duke baseball, this duo should still be desired. Mantle, and Mays defined baseball in the 1950's for two of the three New York teams A Mickey Mantle single signed baseball is worth about $500. -$800., a Willie Mays single signed baseball is worth about $125. -$200. A Mickey Mantle Willie Mays dual signed baseball is worth about $300.-$400. If both signatures can be viewed at the same time when the baseball is displayed it could have a higher value. The value could also be effected if one or the other signature is on the sweet spot. Value is based on average prices of recently closed auctions. Prices may vary based on condition, and the type of authenticity that accompanies the baseball. Signatures that have not been properly authenticated could sell at half the market value or less. In a June 20008 auction a Mickey Mantle Willie Mays dual signed baseball sold for $358.50

Once a collectible Item like a baseball card is signed it looses it's value as such, and becomes an item to display the signature. The bulk of the value now relies on the value of the signature. To the baseball card collector the signature would be considered a flaw in the condition of the card. The signed baseball card might be desired by the autograph collector. The value of the baseball card could add value to the signature in some cases.

A Mickey mantle signed baseball card in general would be compatible in price to a signed 8 x 10 photo, about $150. -$300. Most likely the lower half of this price range.

Value is based on average prices of recently closed auctions. Prices may vary based on condition, and the type of authenticity that accompanies the baseball. Signatures that have not been properly authenticated could sell at half the market value or less

How much is a 2007 topps mickey mantle card worth?

2007 Topps Mickey Mantle Autograph cardMickey mantle passed away on August 13, 1995. The 2007 Topps card you have might feature a facsimile signature as Mickey Mantle could not have signed it. If the card was a autographed insert by Topps which a cut signature would have been used then value will rely on the number of inserts that were made that year. In general a signed Mickey Mantle Baseball card is worth about $150.-$300. if properly authenticated.

Could you have gotten an autograph by Mickey Mantle in 1984?

Of cause. Mickey Mantle signed autographs throughout his career. During the late 1980's, when the "baseball memorabilia boom" started, Mickey often signed at autograph shows for the price of $15.00 !! Mickey Mantle signed very few Gene Budig baseballs which came into use in 1995, the year Mantle died. He was also very ill that year and didn't sign often. Although it is possible to have one it is unlikely, and should at least send up a red flag.
