The "Babe Ruth's Home Run Story" 78 rpm record was released in 1920 on the Actuelle record label. Side one featuring an actual recording by the Babe, "Babe Ruth's Home Run Story," and side two "Abadele" performed by Duane Sawyer, and his Novelty Orchestra. Manufactured by the Pathe Freres Phonograph and Cinematography company. a France based international record label active from the 1890s through the 1930s. The "needle-cut" records were labeled Path頁ctuelle. Extremely Rare the "Babe Ruth's Home Run Story" 78 rpm record in auction could sell for anywhere between $400. to $600. Possibly more. Edit by MarkAtnip: It should be noted here that according to Baseballrecordings.com and Baseball On The Record by Michael Corenthal, This is not actually Babe Ruth speaking. It's someone telling a story as if they were Babe Ruth. Listening to the recording will make it immediately clear that the voice is not that of the Babe. The record, while tough to find, should be listed as "scarce" as opposed to rare. It is therefore available in the $50 range. Much less for lower grade examples. Copies sold at auction during the 2007 calendar year for as little as $26. The Pathe' and Actuelle label variations have roughly the same value, although the Pathe' vertical cut version is tougher to find. Released in September of 1920, it is one of the earlier needle cut releases issued by the Pathe' company, and was issued before Babe hit a majority of his Home Runs, however the Babe was already becoming legend.
