They're taper tip. The Apex shaft (red band) is a proprietary shaft with that company. A parallel shaft will not fit.
Unless the type # is off the wall strange, it has a 1" diameter shaft, 1/4" keyway, the end is tapped to thread size 7/16 - 20, and length from mount to tip is 3 and 5/32".

This is the shaft which was used in the Taylormade R7 425 and R7 460, it is a great shaft. The regular shaft is 55 grams, 3.9 torque, high trajectory with a low kick point, the tip is .350 and it is standard length. The stiff shaft is 65 grams, with a mid kick point, the tip is .355 and the shaft is standard length.
The simplest pool cue shafts are simply turned on a lathe following a template to produce the 13 mm or 14 mm tip, followed by the taper, and then to the mating surface to the butt. The proper mating insert is selected and the shaft is drilled and it is inserted. The tip is applied, the tip properly turned and shaped, and the shaft is complete. In most cases, the shaft is finished with the butt however.
Shaft flex is determined by the vibration frequency-- this is measured by fixing the shaft's butt and attaching a 10-ounce weight on its tip and then vibrate it to its vertical direction.

If you mean the result of them meeting, tip to tip, as they grow, then thickening from that as a single shaft of calcite from roof to floor, the result is a "Column".
