14-4A Jacksonville high school fightin' Indians (Jacksonville, TX) went 12 overtimes against the nacogdoches high school dragons (nacogdoches, TX) in 39 degree (Fahrenheit) weather on October 29-30. it didn't end until 12:51 on the 30th. it was a five and a half hour game which exhausted the teams the bands and the audience. the final score was 84-81. you can see the report at http://www.ketknbc.com/sports/friday-football-fever/jacksonville-84-nacogdoches-81-12-overtimes
The longest NFL game was a playoff game played December 25, 1971 between the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs. The game went one full overtime period and 7:40 into the second before Garo Yepremien kicked a field goal to give Miami a 27-24 victory.

∙ 10y agoThe longest NHL game was played March 24, 1936 between the Montreal Maroons and the Detroit Red Wings in the semifinals of the Stanley Cup playoffs. The game went five full overtime periods and 16:30 into the sixth overtime period before Mud Bruneteau scored for Detroit to give them a 1-0 victory. Total time of the game was 176 minutes, 30 seconds.
