It depends what you mean by most popular...If you essentially mean, which number is used most often within any given team, then I'm not sure there is one, although obviously number 1, most often the goal keepers jersey would likely be the one with most appearances. Although if your asking which shirt number footballers typically want to wear, then it would depend on their style of play. Strikers usually like number 9, the technically skillful players usually go for number 7, 10 or 11, whereas defenders usually want something like 4 or 5. Nobody wants the number 2 shirt...It's lame.
