∙ 15y agoThe world record for men is 7:58.61 set by Kenyan Daniel Komen in Hechtel, Belgium in July 1997. The women's record is 8:58.58, set by Ethiopian Meseret Defar in Brussels, Belgium in September 2007.

In fact the world record is 45:13
Set by Ian Stewart (Birchfield Harriers) on May 8th 1977 at Stoke on Trent
during the Michelin 10 mile road race(under AAA laws )
I finished 28th in the same event so my knowledge is first hand.

∙ 14y agoDaniel Komen of Kenya ran two miles in seven minutes, 58.61 seconds on July 19, 1997 at a track & field (athletics) meeting in Hechtel, Belgium. He is the only human to ever run two miles in less than eight minutes.

As of 2021, the world record for running the 2 mile (which is equivalent to 3218.69 meters) is 7:58.61. This record was set by Kenyan runner Daniel Komen in 1997.
