His book, Ultra Marathon Man, describes some of his accomplishments such as running 200 miles in a little over 46 hours. One of the first to run a marathon in Antarctica to the South Pole.

∙ 13y agoThe Self-Transcendence 3100 mile race is the world's longest certified footrace.
It is a multi-day race hosted by the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team and takes place in Queens, New York in the USA from June-August every year. The course is a bit over one-half mile long and is run on the concrete sidewalk around a school, a playing field and a playground. The runners competing have 51 days in which to finish the distance - an average of running 60.78 miles on every day.
This may be correct as far as the longest footrace.
However, the question relates to the longest marathon. By definition, a marathon is 42.195 kilometers, which equates to 26 miles plus 385 yards or about 26.22 miles. Many non-runners confuse the term "marathon" to denote any footrace but in fact a marathon is a fixed distance.
However, this could be a trick question, and one could win a bar bet against a few seasoned runners. The distance hasn't always been fixed although it has typically been around 25 plus miles. In the 1920 Olympics the marathon was 26.56 miles or 42.75 kilometers.
Om May 30 2005, the Lakeshore Marathon course in Chicago was mis-measured and runners literally went the extra mile. The course was 27.2 miles long.
