I have played halfback before so i should know Halfbacks must be skillful, leaders and GREAT KICKERS Skillful - Sidestep, Quick Passes, Dummy Passes, Trick Plays. Leaders - Control, To Know What They Are Doing, And To Tell Players To Go To A Certain Position on the field. Kickers - They need to master these kicks, Grubber, Bomb, Chip, Punt, Torpedo, Banana and conversion
The half-backs are actually two different positions. The Scrum-Half and the Fly-Half. They are both key roles to the game of Rugby, who both do crucial decision making.
The Scrum-Half is normally quite small and nippy, and their main role is to get the ball out of the scrum/maul/ruck/lineout (in league there is no lineout, ruck and maul) and either kick to space or pass out to the backs or a crashing forward.
The Fly-Half's job is to make the decision on which side of the scrum/ruck/maul they want the ball passed to them. From here they may also call the attacking move move which include the remaining back or kick attempt a scoring kick or a kick for strategic territory. In most games the role of the Flyhalf is also to take penalty kicks and conversions. However, this is not always the case as now many teams are investing in development of other players that can do this as well.
The role of a fullback is mainly decision making and keeping the ball alive, and of course catching!! the reason for this is because of the pressure they come under byt the opposition they have to be quick thinkers. it is a vital importance that they can keep the ball and catch there is no point in having a fullback that can't catch!! and also to have good strength when running.

A fullback is very important in rugby league. They are generally in the middle of the park and further back than the initial line of defence. The stand at the back incase a player from the opposition makes a break and the fullback will attempt to tackle them. The fullback also needs to defend kicks. Fullbacks usually read the game well.
