  • In my opinion, because their bones have not fully formed, it is questionable whether a 14-year-old should be lifting weights at all. It would probably be better to wait until age 16. Persons younger than that should concentrate on all around athletic development by, for example, playing various kinds of sports.
  • In my opinion, weighlifting will not stunt growth or prematurely close epiphyseal plates or induce otherwise abnormal bone development. It is obvious that correct technique should be utilized, however.

I advice to only have an exercise, walking, biking and running to your 14 year old boy. It is because it is not advisable to do weight lifting at an early age. 21 year old can do, but at 14? I don't think so... you're boy will not get taller if you ask him to continue weight lifting at that age. I think he can still wait, he can still enjoy, biking, running, and walking.

The average 14 year old boy should be new to lifting and start with light weights.

An easy way to see how strong you are is by testing if you can do 30 pushups and 10 pull-ups. If you have already started benching and squatting go for 1x your bodyweight for them. You should probably take a break from lifting and work on your grammar skills though.
