This was with the allowed "bench shirt" aid, which increases the lifter's maximum press by as much as 50%. The world record recognized by the International Powerlifting Federation is by James "Hollywood" Henderson of the US (born April 9, 1965). His lift, the heaviest drug-tested raw bench press, was 711 lbs. (322.5 kg), on July 13, 1997 in Philadelphia, PA.
