∙ 15y agoThe pitching distance in softball varies in different age divisions, associations, leagues, and style of softball. The rules book for the association under which the game is being played should be the ultimate place anyone should look to be sure the field layout is correct.
Generally, these are the distances for each age division
Fastpitch
U10- 35 feet (LL Minors)
U12/U14/U16- 40 feet (LL Majors)
U18- 40 feet or 43 feet if a college player is on the team
Majors- 43 feet (LL Juniors and up)
While generally currently well aligned you need to determine the Association NSA, USSSA, ASA or Little League and the level as they do from time to time vary. Some associations actually allow some discretion at lower levels as I understand which sounds weird. (Not seen it here but the web seems to support with various tournaments posting 'which' distance they will use.
In the context above majors is USSSA majors (older) NOT LL majors who are 12 year olds and work at 40 feet. All measurements are front of pitchers plate (closest to plate) to 'point of plate' (furthest back point).

In softball, the ball is bigger. Baseball pitchers pitch the ball overhand while softball pitchers pitch underhand. Baseball is more of a boys sport and softball is generally more for girls.
There are several online websites that sell training videos for softball pitchers. Youtube also offers some good softball training videos.
45' to 35' feet
25 foot steps.
60
35 feet
The distance is always measured from the point or tip of the plate.
35 feet
No u can not lead off but as soon as the ball leaves the pitchers hand you can get off the base
what is the pitching distance for ten and under softball?
In boys softball they use a bigger ball than the girls =)
A baseball is smaller than a softball, and a softball is made of softer material (hence the name). Pro baseball players get on ESPN, become famous and make millions. Pro softball players get on ESPN2 at 1 in the morning and no one knows their names.
