A player can lead off 2nd with less than 2 outs but not too far because he must tag up to advance with a hit in the air, or steal if he likes, therefor leads tend to be farther. If there are two outs he will take off with the crack of the bat at his own risk if the ball is on the ground. Some Coaches teach a deep lead at second base with two outs which gives the runner a better angle to round third base on contact. You typically want to take a three step lead, then a two shuffle secondary. The only difference between no outs and two is you are deeper with two outs and more aggressive
