Supposedly it was Georgia Tech over Cumberland College, 222-0. Tech was coached by Johnny Heisman (yes, the guy the trophy was named for), Tech never attempted a forward pass (of course, no one did back then), and Cumberland's longest offensive gain on the day was a four-yard loss. -The Jeff

Georgia Tech defeated Cumberland College (now Cumberland University), 222-0, in a College Football game on October 7, 1916, at Grant Field, Atlanta, Georgia.

Legendary head coach John Heisman was the head coach of Georgia Tech. The "Engineers" (as they were known then; the "Yellow Jackets" nickname did not come about until later) would go on to win the mythical "National Championship" the following season.

Cumberland College, based in Lebanon, Tennessee, had discontinued its football program before the 1916 season, but couldn't get out of its scheduled game with Tech. The school has since reinstated its football squad, but play in the NAIA.
