Serving a Volleyball1. First off, you always want to stand like you are throwing a softball. So stand facing the other court, if you are a righty you're standing facing your right. Does that make sense?

2. You never never hold the ball with both hands when you go to toss the ball up, it seems like you would have more control, but you actually have less control over the ball.

3. Toss the ball in front of your hitting hand shoulder...This is important because if you toss it in front of your face (which you are going to do the first couple times because our arms throw naturally curved) You toss up with your left hand in front of your right shoulder and as you toss you bring your hitting arm forward. **You want to do this all in one smooth motion because you have more power!**

4. Swing your right hand forward, reaching as high as possible. Contact the ball with your whole hand, NOT A FIST!!! A fist is not illegal in volleyball but it is bad form and you have no control over where the ball goes! You should be contacting the ball with your whole hand, the fingers are used to snap the ball into a topspin.

7. After you have served BEHIND THE FAR BLUE LINE! get into your volleyball position again right away after you serve. You never know when the other team will return it.
Tips
* Perfect your underhand serve first, so if you mess up, you are always confident with that!
* Make sure that the ball is filled with air or else it will fall flat on the ground.
* Practice makes perfect, so practice this a lot!
* Switch right/left depending on what hand is more comfortable for you.
* Toss ball ahead of you and snap your wrist upon contact to create topspin which makes the ball dive as it crosses the net.
* Don't punch the ball, do a smooth swing at it.
* Spend some time practicing only your throw cause it can mess up the whole serve and then the other team will get the ball and the point!
* Using your momentum can help a lot especially if you have a small body.
* Take a few steps or none, depending on how comfortable you feel.
* But you have to have fun, because it is a fun sport.
Warnings
* This may cause stress on your arm, so warm up before serving. What I always do is get a partner and throw the ball across the net a few times until you feel your arm is stretched out.. That is what we do at practice and at games!
* Everyone says the rule has changed about if you have a bad toss you can let it drop... Is has NOT changed... If you have a bad toss, you can drop it only once and then the ref will wave you on again! ALWAYS WAIT UNTIL THE REF WAVES YOU ON TO SERVE!

to serve, you have a basic form: toss, step, hit. to do so, use the following steps:

1. Have your feet shoulder width apart and if you are right handed, have your left foot slightly forward (opposite if you are left handed)

2. If you are right handed, have the ball in the palm of your left hand. Your arm should be extended out in front of your body. (left handed... ball in right hand)

3. Have your other arm pull back behind your head as if you are pulling a bow. Open your palm and make it face the direction you want the ball to go.

4. Wherever your belly button is pointing, that is where the ball will go when you hit it... so square your belly button up so it is pointing where you want the ball to go.

5. Next, toss the ball in the air about a foot above your head.

6. Step your left foot (if you are right handed) or your right foot (if you are left handed) straight forward.

7. once the ball gets to the point where you can almost fully extend your arm up into the air to hit the ball, reach up and swing at the ball. (when swinging, make sure to have a firm wrist and don't let it flop around or else the ball won't go over the net)

8. After hitting it... follow through. (that means the keep pulling your hand down until you reach your hips)

ITS AS EASY AS THAT!!!! TRY IT.

Hold the ball in your non-writing hand. Toss the ball up as you step into it and hit it with your dominant hand. You want to hit the ball at it's highest point, and by stepping into it you will have more power

It depends what would work best for you. If your overhand serving make sure to bring your arm behind your ear like your about to shoot a bow. If your underhand serving dont throw the ball up when your ready to hit it.

There are several types of way to serve a volleyball. The main kinds are the float, top spin, jump float, and jump top spin. A float ball is when your ball is in the air and it beings to move back and forth. A float is a really good serve to have and is very hard to pass. The top spin, of course, is when your ball spins in the air. This serve is not as good as a float but is still a good one to know. All that a jump serve means is that you add a simple approach and then you serve the ball while you are in the air. Two basic approaches are the two step and three step. A three step approach if you are right handed is just the way you would hit. Left, right, left. If you are left handed, right, left, right. A two step approach is the last two steps of a hitting approach. Right handed people are right, left. Left handed is left, right. Hope this helps :)

You can either serve under hand, by holding the ball in you non dominant hand and swinging underhand and hitting it over the net. Or you can serve over hand, by throwing the ball up in your non dominant hand and hitting it like an archers postion. You can also do a jump serve it is the same as an overhand serve but you jump while doing it!!!! Jump serve is the most powerful but also the hardest to master.

you can either serve underhand or overhand , to underhand serve you place your dominite hand on the ball ( underneath ) then with your non-dominite hand swing it to hit the ball with a closed fist and followthrought. Now with overhand serving it is more complicated , first take the hand you don't write with and place the ball in that hand then with the hand the write with aim to your target , load and fire.....

You serve a volleyball from behind the serving line. I know it sounds stupid but its the line at the back of the court. The space between there and the wall/objects behind you

Throw the ball up with your right hand, jump and with a fist in your right hand smack the ball at an upward angle with your palm side.
