- There are several types of yoga many postures and breathing techniques all play a key role in yoga practice. Relaxation and breathing all are included in classes. As a teacher, I'd advise anyone to attend classes for at least six months 2 to 3 times a week if possible, the expense far outways the benifits. This way you are taught and posture is demonstrated, mistakes are rectified. Find a teacher that suits you,see if yoga is for you. With so many dvds on market it's difficult to suggest one, I would recommend Barbra Currie, she's easy to follow. Look out for hatha or iyengar yoga dvds check out who's teaching is it a qualified teacher, or Swami ie an Indian professional. GOOD LUCK ENJOY
- I completely agree with the above answer to your question. If you are a beginner, it is important that you check out your local yoga classes to see what form of yoga will suit you. Most, if not all, yoga teachers will allow you to observe their classes and may even offer introductory sessions so you can decide whether its for you or not. However, prior to doing this, I strongly recommend that you seek the advice of your medical professional before you start any exercise regime. Recommending a Home Yoga DVD is difficult. There are so many that cover the various forms and levels of experience - beginner to advanced. I would suggest that you go online and explore. Probably a good starting point would be Amazon.com as they provide you with user comments/ratings from purchasers.
