I think the question is a little too vague. There are various levels of professional football in the United States, and the level of pay differs according to each. Many players in MLS, the US's first division, make less than $50,000. Freddy Adu has the largest contract, at a base salary of $300,000 with incentives to guarantee him at least $500,000. But it's hard to say there even exists a median salary, because there are so many different levels.
