The sport of the discus throw dates back to the ancient Greeks and the first Olympics circa 776BC.
The girls discus weighs 1 kilogram.
In the year of 1908, Megan O'Connor broke the current standing record at the time which was 74.03 metres with a throw of 74.98 metres. This record stills stands to this very date and is considered very unlikely to be broken in years to come.
No one has ever throw 240 in the discus in Tennessee in fact no one has thrown over 200 feet. The TSSAA state record is held by Brett Collins of Jefferson County. 187-10 in 1987. That record my be broken this year or next several good discus throwers in Tennessee this year.
on my track team and according to the league standards from where i live (southeast PA), 94 feet it a pretty decent throw. IF you are a 14 year old girl and are throwing it that far you should be pretty happy with yourself. good work.
