First, thirteen year olds are generally just entering puberty, so heavy lifting should never be done. This includes low weight and high reps. Set a lifting routine well within your range, stick to it, and do not exceed it.

Second, again speaking generally, everyone who is healthy and physically unencumbered should be able to bench press 70% of his own weight. Those in better than average condition should be able to lift a maximum of half again their weight. So, for instance, if the thirteen year old weighs 100 lbs, he should be able to bench press 70 lbs. and for those in better condition 150 lbs. max. Consider that when you do a push up, you are "pressing" about 70% of your own body weight. Start there to establish your routine. If you can do three sets of 12 push ups with a five minute breather between sets, start with that weight.

Finally, if you are only beginning your lifting routine, always make certain to eat healthy. DO NOT rely on fad diets or supplements. Eat a balanced diet. Additionally, hydrate regularly. You will be burning off water by increasing your metabolism, so it is more important to keep hydrating when you are not lifting as well as during your routine. Most importantly, build slowly. Do not walk up to the rack and expect to push up your body weight immediately. Start with half or three quarters of your current weight, and increase the weight you work gradually over weeks, NOT days. Lift no more than two or three times a week, and start an aerobic routine on your non-lifting days.

Last word, when you set up your routine, work all muscle groups equally. That is on day one, work your biceps and chest; on day two, work your triceps and back; and on day three, work your legs (always work your legs separately, they are 1/3 of your mass and if you do it right, you will be sore). Make certain you work your legs--you don't want Hulk arms and chest and chicken legs. Don't do the reverse either, or you end up looking like Tom Platz (check the images--what worked for him probably won't for you).

Never forget, if you over do it, you will pay the pay for it one day, and the price is far too high. There is no going back. Remember also that if you start down the road of heavy lifting, one day you will not be able to keep it up--life intrudes. On that day, that mountain of flesh you have sculpted is going to fall; your deep, barrel chest is going to become an beer barrel gut. Word from one who has walked there.

write now i am thirteen 6 feet tall and can bench around 150 lbs maybe more but i haven't tried. i would say it varies vastly and you shouldn't push yourself too fast just work yourself up until you are where you want it but slowly.

a 13 year old should be able to easily bench press 3 quarters of his or her weight but it all depends on the size you are. i am 5 feet 8 172cm and 8 and a half stone and i can bench press 10-11 stone 140lbs and that's above average. im in the top pe group in my year and most of my piers cant even bench press 8 stone. i can also deadlift 19-20 stone and squat 14 stone.

i am a 13 year old boy that weighs 110 pounds,i am 5 foot 2, and can bench 135 so i would say the average is 125 for a 13 year old boy

125 is actually a lot, so it depends on the size. I see you bench press 25 lbs. over body weight, and my 12 (a month from 13) year old cousin weighs only 89 lbs., but maxes at 115-120, which is at least 26 lbs. over body weight. He is also 5'2, so it depends on the strength and size of the person, so no average can be determined. For any weight, the goal is to be able to bench your own weight.

I am 12 and I bench about 95lbs. At max I can probably do 105lbs. A 13 year old should be able to do at least 115 lbs. (that is if you are active and fit) If you are weak you should at LEAST be able to do 75 lbs.

I am 13 and I can bench about 135 to 140. At max I have done 150 pounds. now I will point out I am bigger than most 13 year olds (5ft 9in, 140lbs.) Whoever asked this I advise that you don't worry about what you can or can't bench until you're in late high school. But if you really want something to shoot for I'd go with nothing above 100lbs.

I'm 13 5ft 2in and weight 110 lb and i bench 125 and my max is 135. I'm really strong and my friends usally bench 75-100.
