The Cleveland Browns hold the record for best team by wins, championships than any other current NFL team. Although the NFL changed the championship game name to Super Bowl, the Browns have won more titles than any current team to this day in 2012 and have more game wins than any other team as well, making them the best team ever. Special Teams sir, special teams.
It is technically possible for three teams in one conference to have perfect seasons.
Ravens are the best
85' Broncos with an 11-5 record. 1967 Baltimore Colts with an 11-1-2 record. 1963 Green Bay Packers with an 11-2-1 record. Then the 1985 Broncos. As of the 2008 season, those three teams are the only teams in NFL history to win 11 games in the regular season and not make the playoffs.
The division is won by the team with the best overall record. If two teams have the same overall record, then the first tie breaker is head-to-head record. If the two teams split their head-to-head matches the 2nd tiebreaker is the record against divisional opponents. If they are still tied they look at best record against common opponents. If they are still tied they look at strength of schedule of the teams they both beat (ie. records of those teams)There are more tiebreakers after that, but I don't think they have ever been used.
The Saints.
2009? Broncos Colts Giants Vikings Saints all have 4-0 record
Among existing teams, the Cowboys have the best winning percentage. As of the beginning of the 2010 season, Dallas is 467-339-6 all-time, for a .579 winning percentage.
