water beetles, sometimes rather large usually green or brown in color (they also bite or sting), "stick bugs" and small black water beetles. Mosquito larvae also if the water is lacking of enough chemicals. Funny thing is I have found stick-bugs to kamikaze dive into pools I have installed before liners are installed or the pool is finished. I guess through evolution they have learned that pools have water - or at least some do.
Well it's one way they catch their food. They eat small bugs and insects that live under water. If they can't swim they can't catch it.
ducks have to swim under water to get food because they will have no food if they dont go under water and they need water also.
you can only swim above water
you can swim faster under water because the water pulls you forward more than the air does
