A 'split' is the time it takes to run a portion of the race. Split times in the mile run are generally taken after 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile, and 3/4 mile and are used to determine whether the runner is on pace to finish the race in the desired time or in a record time.

How many events happen when you drive one mile?

Infinitely many.I will use a variant of Zeno's paradox to illustrate this. Before you can drive a mile you must drive half a mile. So the event of driving a mile can be split into two sub-events of driving half a mile. But before you can drive half a mile you must drive a quarter of a mile. So the event of driving each half of a mile can be split into two sub-events of driving a quarter of a mile - making 4 sub-events in all.And then each of them can be split into two and so on, and on.Infinitely many.I will use a variant of Zeno's paradox to illustrate this. Before you can drive a mile you must drive half a mile. Can a 16 year old girl that is 5 feet tall finish a 9.5 mile race in 30 minutes?

Most likely no considering a decent to fairly good mile split for a 16 year old girl would be around 6:00 minutes per mile which would equal only 5 miles in a 30 minute time window. For anyone to finish a 9.5 mile in 30 minutes they would have to be averaging faster than 3:30 for each mile. This is almost impossible considering the woman's world record for the mile is 4:12.56.

What is a good mile time for women's cross country?

I would say a good time for a woman to run just a mile cross country would be around 6 minutes. A good split for a three mile would be 7 minutes.-------------------------------------------- It depends what shape you are in. I am a teenager and it literally takes me only 4-6 minutes to run 1 whole mile. But I am in REALLY good shape for I have ran cross-country and track for 2 years.
