Quarter horses do tend to be the best for barrel racing but Arabians are deferentially not suited for it. You can really use any horse for barrel racing but it is SUPER IMPORTANT that you make sure they have the right body build and athletic abilities to preform the task. Arabians typically don't fit the needs. I am a barrel racer myself so please take this advice.
honestly you don`t use ponies for this event you use quarter horses
mmmm i would disagree with that you can use ponies for young children in barrel racing.
Pony of Americas is a very good pony breed for barrel racing. Quarter pony is also a very excellent breed for this sport!
For barrel racing, English, pretty much any thing, i ride a nice, 14 hand paint pony. No only are ponies great because they aren't usually that long so they wont knok over the barrel, but ponies are known for their fire. a horse that has fire can do any thing it want. Ponies are often times usually pretty fast. But, Most stock horses, ponies, and Arabians can be a gaming horse.
Quarter Horses are very common in the sport of barrel racing as they are quick and agile. Quarter Horses are an average height and tend to have a low centre of gravity. Other breeds that are good at barrel racing are: Mustangs, Appaloosas, Arabians, Paints and Appendix Quarter Horses. they have to be light, quick on their feet and go fast!
Quarter Horses are probably the best choices for barrel racing. They are fast and able to make sharp turns and they are pretty sturdy. In most barrel racing events. Quater Horse's probably used for this sport more than any other breed of horse. Excellent choice if you want one too barrel race.
I think the first answer is good but I also love palominos. I have one, but any horse can be fit for barrel racing if it has the right build and athletic abilities. Most horses that barrel race are smaller though.
Quarter horse, paints and small thoroughbreds
Quarter horses are deferentially the most popular but paints, small thoroughbreds and my favorite palomino work well. It all depends on the build and athletic ability though.
All breeds can be trained to do it. Heck, I've seen a gypsy vanner run a pattern in a video
try polo pony and /or quarterhorsei think the Arabian breed is the best breed for horse racing
quarter horses
Yes they are the same breed, but the term 'Irish Pony' can also be applied to any pony from Ireland so it is best to refer to each pony by it's correct breed name.
TB or TBX
The pony's breed does not matter so long as it has the proper training and ability to jump the height and obstacles that it will be asked to jump.

A pony is a sub-species of horses. Basically you get ponies when you breed horses rated as ponies.
it would depend on what breed the horse/pony is, for example, a heavy horse breed will in most occasions be heavier than a pony but with a light weight horse breed there will be some pony breeds that are heavier. hope that helped :)
