To return a doubles serve.
To push an oppenent back very quickly after a drop if you catch the bird high enough on your forehand side.
It is preferred by most players and is most convenient to use backhand drives because the grip can provide more strength and can cover more area.

∙ 12y agoHigh serves, like in tennis are never used in Badminton as the head of the racquet needs to be below the handle for the serve to be legal. However, if you mean serving the shuttle high, then they should be used in a doubles match, when you know your opponent is weak at moving backwards, or you can see that they have set themselves up for a premeditated move forward to the net to cut out the short serve quickly. Putting a little flick in will catch them off guard and more than likely win you the point. These are just a few examples, a high serve can be used on many different occasions. Its more down to the player to determine when the best time to use this part of your armoury.
