How do you turn your pool from green to clean in less then 24 hours?
Strong algaecide followed by casting with floculent let the pool settle for as long as possible the floculent will pull every thing to the bottom. When ready set the pump to waste (not filter) and remove the layer of contaminated water from the bottom of the pool carefully with a hand vacuum. 24 hours is cutting it a bit close though.
How can you get mud out of an above ground pool?
If the water is cloudy with mud. go to the pool shop and get some floculent .stop the pools filtration equipment. add the floculent according to the instruction's Let the pool stand still for 2 days. you will note that the water has cleared up aside from a layer at the bottom. gently vacuum this material to waste. DO NOT PUT IT THROUGH THE FILTER. Then top up as required.

Alum is a floculent and these are often used to settle excessive amounts of dirt to the bottom of pools the are available from pool shops. It sounds like you will need to replace the laterals in your sand filter first so that you don't have this problem in the future. Take care vacuum the settled dirt and flock to waste do not put it through the filter.
Do you vacuum on filter or backwash?
Typically you only need to backwash when your filter's PSI is double its starting PSI level. For example, mine starting PSI is between 7 and 12, so when it gets to between 15 and 20 PSI I'll backwash.
Step by step on cleaning a green swimming pool?
(1) increase the amount of chlorine in the pool (2) get an algaecide from the pool shop and follow the directions on the bottle ( I like copper based algaecides as these seem to last longest in the water. Unless the infestation is very serious you should have the situation under control in a couple of days. However these are not always suitable for salt water pools. (3) if you find that the infestation is so bad that you are unable to clear up the water go to the pool shop and get a floculent follow the instructions on the container.
Can you purify a green pool?
Yes you can. First of all shock it with chlorine and hit it with an algaecide. This will kill it of. let the pool circulate for a day or so. stop the filtration equipment and turn it to waste. Next cast a floculent (clarifier) over the surface of the water. do not turn on the filtration equipment. leave the pool to settle for 2 or 3 days. At the end of this time you will notice that the water in the pool has cleared up completely, except for a clearly defined layer at the bottom of the pool. You gently lower a hand vacuum into the pool and then vacuum this layer carefully to waste ( do not try to filter this stuff as it will block the filter in about 1 minute) vacuum it to waste until it is completely gone. you will lose up to a foot (300mm)of water doing this.
How do you get green algae off plaster pool walls?
Algaecide in the water your pool shop will give you the right stuff I like copper based algaecide, and scrub the walls of the pool with a stiff pool wall scrubber on a long handle. you will find that a lot of the stuff will die and end up on the bottom after a day or so, Hand vac back wash and scrub the sides again. If that doesn't start to improve things you may have to use a floculent and then vacuum the algae to waste. Just ask your pool shop about it and the will set you on the right path.
How do you remove dirt from a pool?
I live next to a large pond and the best way I found is to use copper sulfate. What this does is remove the oxogen in the water. Vacuum heavily during the next few weeks and after your done turn the filters on. if you keep the dead algae stirred up the filters should do the rest. Hope this helps!

A floculent is a material that is cast onto the water and has the effect of attracting and taking suspended impurity's to the bottom of the water. After having added floculent to a cloudy swimming pool and leaving it to settle for a couple of day there will be a layer of cloudy sludgy looking water at the bottom which needs to be removed to wast leaving the rest of the water clear.
