Quidditch is a game played by characters in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series.

The game is played on broomsticks outside on a oval-shaped pitch. There are two teams of 7 players, with 4 balls in play at all times.

The first ball is called the Quaffle. The Quaffle is handled by the three Chasers. It is passed between the Chasers towards the opposing team's Keeper, who guards his team's three hoops. When a Chaser passes the Quaffle through one of the three hoops, his team scores 10 points.

There are 2 balls called Bludgers, which are self-propelled balls, enchanted to try and unseat as many players from both teams as possible. There are two players on each team that handle the Bludgers, called Beaters. These players carry clubs that they use to keep the Bludgers from hitting their own teammates, and try and hit them towards the opposing team members.

The last ball in play is called the Golden Snitch. This is a Golf ball-sized ball with fluttering wings that eludes capture by both team's seekers. The Seeker who catches the Golden Snitch usually wins the game for his/her team, as this ends the game and gives his team 150 points. This means both that the Seeker has the most dangerous job and are fouled the most and that the team that catches the Snitch almost always wins but not necessarily.

There are also 700 possible fouls in Quidditch but only one match has ever had all of the possible fouls.

Quidditch is the most popular sport in the wizarding world, where there are three hoops on the pitch's either end, seven broom-riding players per team (3 Chasers, 2 Beaters, 1 Keeper, and 1 Seeker), and four balls (1 Quaffle, 2 Bludgers, and 1 Snitch). To get points, the Chasers work together to throw the Basketball-like leather Quaffle into the hoops guarded by the other team's Chaser. Each hoop is worth 10 points for their team. Meanwhile, the heavy black Bludgers try to unseat as many players as possible, while a team's Beaters attempt to redirect the Bludgers toward their opponent's members with heavy bats. Almost separate from the action is the Seeker, who tries to hunt down and catch the quick, tiny winged Golden Snitch. A game does not end until the Snitch has been caught, and the Seeker who catches the Snitch earns 150 points for his respective team.

Quidditch is a sport played on Harry Potter. It involves teams flying around on flying on broomsticks trying to get rather heavy balls into rings that are high up in the air. The game can only end 2 ways. One is when the 2 captains agree to end the game. The other is when a ball that whizzes around extremely quickly (called the golden snitch) is caught the game is automatically won by the persons team.

There are three hoops on either side of the pitch. Each team has seven players and the game has four balls. The first player is the Keeper. He has to guard the three hoops to make sure that the other team don't score. They score with the Quaffle, a big red ball. There are three Chasers on each team. They try to score by working together. Then there are two Beaters. They have bats to hit two balls with. These two balls are slightly smaller than the Quaffle and they are black. They are called Bludgers. They are infinitely more dangerous so watch out for them! The Beaters try to hit the balls at the members of the opposing team to knock them off their brooms. I should have mentioned earlier, the whole sport is played on broomsticks. The last player is the Seeker. He has to race the opposite teams Seeker to catch the Golden Snitch, a small winged golden ball which is very difficult to catch. There are 700 possible Quidditch fouls. The Quaffle comes from the Quadball. Quadball used to be a game not unlike the Muggle (non magic) hot potato except if you didn't get it into the cauldron in time it would explode. As you can imagine, it was banned by the Ministry of Magic for safety reasons. Although the Quaffle does not explode, it is very like the Quadball in appearance. The Snitch comes from the bird the Snidget - just as Muggles fox hunt, wizards and witches used to Snidget Hunt. This was eventually banned out of cruelty to magical creatures, but the ball remains. No one touches a Snitch until it is caught - the maker wears gloves, as does the Quidditch referee who releases it into the air. Snitches have flesh memories. Now for the points system. Every time your team scores, your team gets ten points and vice - versa. However, when the Snitch is caught it is game over (yes games do go on for a very long time sometimes, we're talking months, but they're normally between and hour and three hours.) If your Seeker catches the Snitch, you gain 150 points. If your Seeker does not catch the Snitch, you gain no points. On the bright side, you lose no points either!

Quidditch is a very popular game in the wizarding world, the world cup is played every four years. The next one will be summer 2014. Probably the most famous one was the Quidditch World Cup 1994 Final, between Bulgaria and Ireland, which contained remarkable use of the Wronski Feint (a feinting Quidditch move ) by the Bulgarian Seeker Viktor Krum, probably the most famous Seeker of all time. Ireland won, but Bulgaria got the Snitch - a remarkable and most unusual result. However, the reason it is so famous is because of the gathering of Death Eaters and the Dark Mark cast, which many (correctly) saw as an omen of things to come. But the less said about that the better!

Hope I helped you, if you're wondering about Death Eaters and the Dark Mark read the books, they are absolutely incredible!

Quidditch in the Harry Potter series is a competitive sport that is played on broomsticks. It is a quite rough game, consisting of two teams of seven players each, three different balls (the Quaffle, which is the ball that the players try to receive and get in the goal, the Bludgers, which try to knock players off their brooms, and the Golden Snitch, that ends the game when caught), and three elevated ring-shaped goals on either side. The seven players on each side have four different jobs. The three Chasers try to get the Quaffle, the two Beaters try to knock the Bludgers away, the Keeper tries to protect the goals, and the Seeker tries to catch the Golden Snitch (and when they do the game ends).
