Barry Sanders didn't retire due to injury. Sanders played for the Detroit Lions, a continually dismall and mismanaged team that refused to trade him or let him go into free agency. The team was and still is very poorly managed and Sanders was believed to retire out of frustration with not being able to go to another team, although he has never stated this. He says he lost his love for the game.

What is the name of the US Navy official tune?

"Anchors Aweigh" is the fight song for the United States Naval Academy. The US Navy does not have an official tune, but "Anchors Aweigh" is strongly associated with the US Navy, and has been sung by both Naval Cadets and recruits in bootcamp for years.

Why didn't the Domino Theory work?

The fact is that the Domino Theory HAS worked fine and we are using it in our day to day accident prevention programmes. It is a grand theory which gives one the freedom to adopt a multi-pronged approach to accident prevention. For IMMEDIATE solutions, one needs to remedy the 'unsafe acts/unsafe' conditions. If there is greater determination, one tries to remedy the 'faults of persons' thro' safety education/training, or thro' psychological approaches, or by improving the work-environment. For best results, one needs to to go right up to the ancestry ( genetic/ congenital defects) and the social environment e.g. high road accidents are due to the fact that driving licences can be purchased ! and there is no thorough driving test or written test. This is a result of the social environment .Colour blindness can be remediedby retinal transplantation . Stem cell technology can help to remove several defecys. The Domino Theory is really a masterpiece and I adore it1 However, like any theory, it has a shortfall. It does not say anything about making the SYSTEM safe. I have done quite a bit of study on this theory and am satisfied with it Note that this answer is with respect to H.W.Heinrich's Domino Theory , and not Dwight Eisenhour's. -- S. Saran

What in the first verse of the US national anthem refers to something that actually happened?

The whole National Anthem is actually longer then most people would suspect. But the references to dawn's early light and rockets red glare are to the bombardment of Fort McHenry (Baltimore harbor) by the British fleet on the night of September 13, 1814 (the War of 1812).The Star-Spangled Banner (Francis Scott Key)Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming? And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.O say, does that star-spangled banner yet waveO'er the land of the free and the home of the brave? On the shore dimly seen thro' the mists of the deep,Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream:'Tis the star-spangled banner: O, long may it waveO'er the land of the free and the home of the brave! And where is that band who so vauntingly sworeThat the havoc of war and the battle's confusionA home and a country should leave us no more?Their blood has wash'd out their foul footsteps' pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slaveFrom the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth waveO'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand,Between their lov'd homes and the war's desolation;Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued landPraise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,And this be our motto: "In God is our trust"And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall waveO'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Which African countries were colonised by Britain?

England Colonized many African Countries. To name but two it is South Africa and Zimbabwe. South Africa was ruled by the British government for centuries. It became independent from Britain in 1961. Unfortunately it was continued to be ruked by a white apartheid government. Only in 1994 under the leadership of former President Nelson Mandela did South Africa become truly democratic where all races of people in South Africa could participate in the electing of their government. Zimbabwe was formely known as Southern Rhodesia and later Rhodesia. Under the leadership of the Prime minister Ian Smith he broke away from British rule and declared what was known as UDI (Unilateral Declaration of Independence) in 1965. Zimbabwe's struggle continued for Independence thro war against Ian Smiths government by liberation movements. It was finally recognized as independent when Robert Mugabe government came into power.
