1910 was a busy year! There was so much going on in the way of fashion, politics, science, and entertainment. On Jan. 2nd the very first Middle School opened in Berkeley, CA, the treaty between Germany and Bolivia ended on Jan 19th, and on the 16th of Jan. there was a great flood in Paris. And that was just January!
In February the Boy Scouts was incorporated and chartered, in March China ended slavery, and in April, Mt. McKinley was first climbed. On May 6 King George V took the British Throne, on June 2nd the Pygmy's were discovered, on July 30th Russia took over Finland, and on August 6th the New York Mayor, Wm J Gaynor, was badly wounded in an assassination attempt.
The fall and winter of 1910 was just as eventful. In September 3 million acres of timber were destroyed in a fire in Idaho. Henry Wignmalen broke the world record for altitude reached at 2,800m in October. Women first had the right to vote that November. By December of 1910 the tobacco company had produced over 9 billion cigarettes over the course of the year.
