In general, today they are much larger, sweeter, and juicier; they have thinner skins and more carbohydrates.

All (whether simple or complex) carbohydrates when digested become sugar. If you eat too much fruit, you are in danger of accumulating too much body fat. Instead of using fat for fuel, if you eat too much fruit your body is in danger of using sugar for fuel (using sugar for fuel is a major part of the explanation for today's epidemic of obesity).

Having several different kinds of fruits daily is a good idea, but don't eat too much fruit. A good rule is to eat twice as many varieties of vegetables daily as you do fruits. So, for example, if you eat six servings of different kinds of vegetables daily, eat three or fewer servings of different kinds of fruits.
