Safety Jake Scott played for the Miami Dolphins from 1970 through 1975 (six seasons). During that span, he was invited to five Pro Bowls and was twice voted All-Pro, and he was voted the MVP of Super Bowl VII. His 35 interceptions still rank as the most in Dolphins history (as of 2012).
Marv Fleming played in five Super Bowls and won four. He won with the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowls I and II, lost with the Miami Dolphins in Super Bowl VI, and won with the Dolphins in Super Bowls VII and VIII.

Four players actually lined up at center during Dan Marino's 17-season career (1983-99) with the Miami Dolphins. Hall-of-Famer Dwight Stephenson handled the duties during the early portion of Marino's career (1983-87). Versatile Jeff Dellenbach, who played all over the offensive line during his ten seasons (1985-94) with Miami, spent much of his playing time at center. Jeff Uhlenhake was the Dolphins' starting snapper for five seasons (1989-93), and Tim Ruddy (with Dolphins from 1994-2003) was the starter for the final years of Marino's career (1995-99).

The most notorious contest was the "snow game" on Thursday, November 25, 1993, when the Cowboys apparently had held onto a 14-13 lead by blocking a Miami field goal in the final seconds. But the Dolphins gained second life when hard-luck Dallas defensive tackle Leon Lett touched the ball and made it live, enabling the Dolphins to recover it. Miami placekicker Pete Stoyanovich then kicked a 19-yard field goal, giving the Dolphins an unforgettable 16-14 win. Miami has a 3-and-2 record in the holiday contests.
