For the record, the NCAA Basketball Final Four consists of three (3) games, the third game being the Championship Game. But I think you are probably asking about the third-place game, which was discontinued after the 1981 tournament. The primary reason for discontinuing this game, which was played between the losers of the first two games among the Final Four, was that the teams were very deflated after not reaching the Championship Game. Thus, the third-place
games were not very entertaining for the spectators nor exciting for the players. (By the way, for

games for each of the four regionals.)
