Fencing jacket--and lame (electric jacket) if doing electric fencing

Epee/Foil/Sabre (3 different types of weapons)

Face mask

Glove (dominant hand only)

For electric fencing, you need more--you would need a body cord, a mask cord (for Sabre only), and a lame (an electric jacket) (for Sabre and foil only), and an electric glove (for Sabre only)

Golf is actually a very simple game when all of the unnecessary equipment, advice, marketing, equipment, and accessories are removed from the equation.

The Short Answer

Golf is a game of hitting a ball into a hole with a stick. Thats it. One stick and one ball is all that is needed. One golf club. One golf ball.

The Long Answer

While the short answer is factually correct, golf and its equipment are a much more complicated subject than can be answered with a short paragraph. Over many centuries the game of golf and the equipment used to play the game have greatly evolved.

While one club is all that is necessary, the Rules of Golf as set by the R&A in the United Kingdom and the United States Golf Association in America, allow the golfer to carry as many as 14. Which clubs the golfer chooses for his/her 14 is as unique to the player. The set of 14 clubs will likely consist of a putter, woods, hybrids, irons, and wedges.

Woods/Metalwoods

Metalwoods or woods are the longest clubs in the golfers bag. Theyre called woods because for centuries the heads of the clubs were made out of wood. Modern clubs of the last few decades are typically made of graphite, titanium, and steel. Despite having the name wood in their title, there is no wood in the construction of metalwoods.

The driver is typically the largest and longest club in the bag and is used for the longest shots off the tee on the golf course. Other woods/metal-woods have numbers attached to them, such as 3-wood or 3-metal. The higher the number, the shorter the club hits the ball in relation to the driver. A typical golfers setup might include a driver, 3-metalwood, and 5-metalwood.

Irons

Irons make up the majority of an average golfers bag. The clubs are called irons because they are made of iron, or other metals. Irons have a smaller head size than metalwoods and are used on the tee and off the ground. Irons as a whole travel a shorter distance than most woods. A modern golfers setup would typically consist of roughly six irons: 4-iron, 5-iron, 6-iron, 7-iron, 8-iron, 9-iron. Other irons include a 3-iron, 2-iron, and 1-iron, but these clubs are very difficult to hit and have all but died in the golf equipment industry.

Hybrids

Hybrid clubs are a hybrid combination of woods and irons which have become quite popular over the last decade. The heads are typically larger and deeper than irons, but smaller than woods. These clubs have replaced the longer irons in most golfers bags, such as the 1-iron, 2-iron, and 3-iron. Hybrids are much easier to hit than long irons, and the golf ball launches higher, which is generally better.

Wedges

Wedges look like irons in design. Wedges are the shortest clubs in the golfers arsenal and used generally for shots around the green, and within a short approach distance anywhere from zero to roughly 150 yards depending on how long the player is. Example wedges include the pitching wedge, sand wedge, and gap wedge.

Putter

Golfers typically carry one putter, which is used on the green. Putters have a vertical face and are designed to roll the ball when struck, not make the ball go airborne.

Conclusion

A typical modern golfers setup would include a driver, metalwood, hybrid, 5-6 irons, 2-4 wedges, and one putter.
