In order for you to become a great hockey player, first you must have committment!. (ha, i hope i spelt that right) because that is the very first thing you need to succeed. You must prove to yourself and everyone else that you can do what you believe!. and yes you will succeed!. im still researching this stuff for myself also. so I'll update this thing later more in the year.:)

to become an nlh player, or play any heigh level of hockey you must have guts to do anything on and off the ice to train, and every year you will improove more and more. How?, skating drills on the ice, shooting 100 pucks a day, practice your stick handeling for adleast 30- to 1h00 a day, and off the ice, run, sit ups push ups, weights even get a trainer, that's what i do. what day someone will notice you, if not keep trying everyday and somone will see you eventually.

There may be other criteria, but to be an NCAA hockey player you have to have finished high school and not be a professional or major junior hockey player. Then you have to be recruited by an NCAA school and offered a scholarship to that college. You also have to meet certain academic qualifications and standards as set out by the school.

Try your hardest in every game, run a lot to keep up with it, teach yourself new stick skills and review the others to become the best you can, play for your college team and when spectators come to watch maybe they will offer you to play for someone if your good enough.

What are the benefits of playing junior a hockey say instead of western hockey league?

NCAA college eligibility is probably the biggest reason. The NCAA considers the three member leagues of the Canadian Hockey League (the WHL, OHL and QMJHL) to be professional, so any player who suits up in one of these leagues is deemed ineligible to play NCAA hockey. Kids that play Junior A hockey retain this eligibility, and there is a growing trend of players going from Junior A to NCAA to the NHL (i.e.: Dany Heatley) rather than CHL to NHL. The WHL has its own scholarship program, however, offering one full year's tuition for every year played in the WHL. The CIS places no restrictions on the eligibility of CHL graduates.

How much does an amature ice hocky player get?

By "amateur", I assume you mean "youth". There is no (legal) professional youth ice hockey player. Should the youth receive any sort of compensation from his or her organization other than financial aid, they violate NCAA rules, and he or she would not be allowed to participate in NCAA athletics.
