Best Answer

Linebacker. This is a player who lines up behind the defensive line. They usually protect against running plays, cover short passes across the middle, and sometimes rush the quarterback.

The defensive line and linebackers are usually considered one unit. Thus, if there are 4 linemen and 3 linebackers then this would be referred to as a 4-3 defense.

Linebacker is the most common one, but if you are looking at a player's weight, then lb means pounds.
