It forces things to be apart and most wedges have a pointy tip to force things to be apart. For example: You use a knife to chop off half of a cucumber. you see how strong the knife is to seperate the cucumber. Now you see how essential a wedge is to somethings. I just showed you another example of how it works and also you learned that a knife can also be a wedge.
