Play is halted while arena workers bring out a new backboard and replace the broken one. This usually takes 15-20 minutes. If there was a shooting foul called on the play, the player that was fouled shoots the free throws once play resumes. Otherwise, the team in possession inbounds the ball as normal once play resumes.
