Sikhism started in Punjab, which is in Northern India.
Sikhism originated in 15th century AD, Christianity originated in 2000 BC. Therefore, Sikhism came about 1500 years after Christianity.
It all started with the Guru Guru Nasnak.
The founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev Ji, was born in 1469 in Punjab, India. However, one might say that Sikhism itself began in 1507, succeeding Nanak's epiphany and the start of his Guruship.ANS-2: The seed of Sikhism was soed by Guru Nanak Dev Ji and SIKHISM started from the day GURU NANAK started preaching.
Hinduism never was a religion and never will be. Hinduism is a way of life. Getting up, cleansing, dressing, feeding and then work. This is what a man does regardless of ethnic background of reach, colour or religion. That is Hinduism. The religion actually is known as Sanatan meaning one with No Beginning and No Ending. Thus one cannot place a date.
No Way, to start any new holy book in sikhism. Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji is the holy book that is respected and is considered as the "Guru" in Sikhism. It contains the gurbani and no additions to this are allowed now.
Sikhism started when Guru Nanak received divine word from God at the approximate age of thirty. Guru Nanak was born in 1469 so a rough date for the beginning of Sikhism would be 1499.
It is called Sikhism.
