Yes. In 2009 the Steelers won Super Bowl XLIII and the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Red Wings in June 2009. Prior to that, no. The Steelers won 4 Super Bowls in the 70's and the Penguins didn't win their first Stanley Cup until 91 AND then again in 92. The Steelers didn't win in either of these years. The city did have two champions in the same year once before - 1979 when the Pirates and Steelers were both Champs.
