Is there a difference between kids soccer rules and professional soccer rules?

Oftentimes, there are. In many youth matches, off side is not called, goal keepers eliminated, slide tackles disallowed, throw-ins replaced by kick-ins, and other rule modifications. The referees will use a far different thresholds for body contact and fouls, because the children are really not in control of their own bodies. The full set of laws of association football are too overwhelming for young children, who are just learning how to kick the ball.
