Not in the NFL. The oldest team in the NFL is the Arizona Cardinals who began as an amateur team called the Morgan Athletic Club in Chicago in 1898. There are two teams from the first year of the NFL (1920) that still exist. The Chicago Bears began play in 1920 as the Decatur Staleys and the Arizona Cardinals began play in 1920 as the Chicago Cardinals. The Lions began play as the Portsmouth Spartans in 1929 and joined the NFL in 1930. The team was bought by a group from Detroit and moved there and renamed the team 'Lions' in 1934.
