for gaa (gallic football or hurling) there are county teams eg. Limerick, Dublin, Cork.or club teams who take a parrish name eg. patrickswell, murroe/boher. gaa games are amature sports ie. players don't get played. players can only play for their local team so there are no transfers.

∙ 8y agoGaelic Football is one of Ireland's national sports. It is run by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), which also runs some other sports. There are over 2500 GAA clubs in Ireland, with many of the clubs having lots of teams, covering different age grades, levels of ability, gender and so on. So there are thousands of Gaelic Football teams in Ireland. Teams can also be found outside of Ireland, particularly where there are large groups of Irish people living. To someone who has never seen it, a very simple description of it would be that it looks like a cross between rugby and soccer, but there is much more to it than that. It has its own distinct rules. It is hugely popular in Ireland. Tourists enjoy the spectacle of seeing it for the first time, particulary the big games which occur in the summer and early autumn, culminating in the All-Ireland Football Final, which is played in September and is the biggest annual sporting event in Ireland. It is an amateur sport, so players are not paid.
