Line fouls can occur when the thrower steps onto or over the line.

Sector fouls occur when the javelin does no land inside of the sector lines (on the line is a foul as well).

Fouls are also called for unsafe delivery technique including side arm throwing and rotational throwing. These fouls are called primarily for the safety of the athlete(s)

Fouls are called when a javelin does not land correctly - for a throw to be legal, the front tip of the javelin must land first.

If profanities, inappropriate gestures, or other unacceptable behaviors are displayed by the athlete, the official may call a foul and scratch a competitor's throw.

A foul occurs when the putter:

Doesn't pause in the circle before begining to throw

Doesn't begin the throw within a minute of his/her name being called

Drops the shot below his/her shoulder during the put

Touches the top or ends of the stopboard; the top of the iron ring; or anywhere outside the circle with any part of the body during the throw

Throws a shot that falls outside the throwing sector or touches a sector line when it first hits the ground

Leaves circle before shot lands

Does not exit from rear half of circle

How many free throws do you get in college?

The same as everywhere else. 2 for a 2 point field and if you miss the shot. 3 free throws for a 3 pointer and if you miss that shot. 1 free throw if you're fouled and you make the shot. 1 or 2 free throws on technical fouls/flagrant or intentional fouls

How many fouls does it take in basketball to have a double bonus?

Go CAVS! There is no such thing as getting a foul(s) to get a bonus. Please ignore the guy above me, he obviously doesn't watch basketball. On the 7th foul the team is in the bonus.

When did you start shooting 3 foul shots for getting fouled on a 3 point shot?

Yes, in the 70's 1976 Three for two rule introduced to allow players fouled in the act of shooing to attempt a third fouls shot if either of the first two attempts miss. There was also a 2 for 1 rule during that time. All defensive fouls were awarded a free throw or free throws. If a one shot foul was called and the defensive team was in the penalty situation, the shooter was awarded 2 shots to make 1.

When a basketball TV commentator says Suton has two fouls to give what does that mean?

im not quite sure, but I'm guessing that Suton is a team right?: every half or period a team's total fouls (adds all the personal fouls of team's players) are added up. If they reach the 4th (NBA) or 7th (NCAA) foul then the opposing team automatically gets to go to the free throw line from then on. the total amount of team fouls reload at the half. So the commentator means that Suton can still cause two risk-free (except for shot attempt fouls) fouls. i hope that helps, paul
