In waterpolo, you generally need to be a swimmer, or at least be able to swim very well. This includes swimming freestyle and heads-up freestyle. You need to have endurance, in a game, a regular waterpolo player swims about 3 miles, so endurance is key. You need to be able to "eggbeat" (if you go on YouTube you can view an example), this is necessary to keep your body up and out of the water to you can view the ball and game.

Along with many other skills, it takes a lot to play waterpolo, but once the first two or three weeks are over, the conditioning will be easy.

Running mostly, there could also be jumping, diving (as a goal keeper).

Your legs will really be put up to the test in soccer, in my personal opinion it is one of the best all-round sports to play if you have the ability to do so.
