Assuming that you have never played softball before...well, if you have any siblings that have any idea of how to hit, throw, and catch a ball, start practicing with them. Have them hit the ball to you, so you can practice catching, and hit it yourself, too. If you don't have able siblings, watch pro players on TV and see if you can pick up any things that might help you. Ask some of your friends to play with you. Remember to never be scared of the ball...when catching it, get behind it, don't sidestep it. Run up towards ground-balls, don't wait for them to come to you. The main thing is practice; the more you can get the better!

get a smoothie or a fruit juice before the tryouts and think about the things you can do to blow them away.Be positive and enjoy it as much as you can. If you don't make the team then don't give up try again the next year. If you do make it don't brag just be happy you did make the team. Remember never have anything that will make you sick if you know that it will be hot or that you will be running alot.
Practice everyday real hard and try your best on the tryouts.
