A good ice skating technique for beginners is for arms to be spread out to sides and to remember to keep knees slightly bent. Leaning slightly forward, keep ice skates in a V-shape. Slowly push one foot away from the other, breaking the V and becoming the lead foot. Lifting the non-leading foot, bring it back down onto the ice to remake the V before becoming the lead foot. Repeat.
