Wiffle balls are made of a light weight plastic, with numerous holes in them. The holes help to slow down the speed of the ball when thrown, or struck. Because the balls have little weight they are much safer for small kids to play with, and they also won't cause as much damage should they strike something.

Most softballs are made out of a solid polyurethane core and a leather cover stitched up with a nylon thread. There is also glue attaching the core and the cover of the softball.

However, there are some softballs, the more inexpensive ones, that are made of a cork center and a synthetic cover.

No wiffle balls are made for plastic bats and have holes in them to prevent them from going as far. Baseballs are made for wooden or aluminum bats and are solid. (thats why hitters can hit them so far)

How many holes are on a whiffle ball?

There is one hole in a wiffle ball. If two openings meet at the same point, then it constitutes as one hole (i.e. a straw has one hole). Since every opening on a wiffle ball meets at the same point in the middle of the ball, there is one hole in a wiffle ball.

What is the distance ratio between golf balls and whiffle balls?

I don't think such a thing can be expressed due to the varied nature of how golf balls are made as well as varying weather conditions around the globe. Wiffle golf balls are designed to simulate the spin of a real golf ball, not so much distance travelled. And while you may not know if you're truly tagging it 300+ yards, you will know if you're cured that nasty slice or not.
