The Minnesota Twins are a charter member of the American League. The team started out as the Washington Nationals in 1901 and moved to Minnesota for the 1961 season. The Twins have won two World Series, in 1987 and 1991 and played in the 1965 World Series, losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers in seven games.
