If a lane is open to drive in, you are not going to stand in your "spot," but will drive in. The spots are just guiding you.
The positions in Arena Football are the same in NFL football
Every time a football game is played, there are 22 players on the field, each in different football positions. Even though it looks like many of the offensive players and defensive players are doing the same thing, there are distinctions between the different positions.

Football in general does not link numbers to positions, but the NFL has some broad guidelines meant to encourage uniformity and therefore fan recognition. 60 is generally a jersey number reserved for offensive linemen.
