Why would you want to torture the poor thing!
Yes! Babies learn how to swim in there mothers stomach! This helps them to hold there breath long aswell. The good thing to do aswell is to bring your baby to swimming lessons, so they don't forget how to swim. If they forget you'll probaly have to do those long sessions on a school night!
Very young babies have a certain temporary reflex that allows them to swim. This reflex is because before they are born they live in water in mum's belly. (I'm not a doctor but I was told how it works.)
you can start taking your child to bubs classes from the age of 6mths. this is a good idea as you will learn ques that will teach your child to hold their breath underwater and also start them learning how to float to save themselves if they do fall into water.
i think it is either 6 months or any age I'm not sure

Cubs learn to swim when they're around a year or two of age.
no, they do not swim after they hatch.
All sharks can swim regardless of age. Once a shark is born, it must swim in order to breathe. Interesting fact, sharks only sleep for a few minutes at a time because they have to wake up and swim around to breathe again.
Children can be taught to swim at any age, even as infants. When children are born, they are basically aquatic creatures, and they can be taught to float and hold their breath almost immediately by a careful, patient teacher who know what he or she is doing. Google "teach your baby to swim" and you will find a wealth of material. When children are older they have usually acquired some fear of the water that they must lovercome when learning to swim.
As soon as they quit nursing, they can swim.
They learn once they in the wTeris either sink or swim
