Basically, yes. You will gain much needed experience in basketball when playing in high school, and (assuming you get good grades) you can then go on to NCAA basketball. The NBA has a draft system nearly identical to the NFL, so you can't get into the NBA without playing in college. And you're not going to play in college if you don't play in high school. And you won't play in high school if you don't get decent grades. So, do well in school, and you'll at least get the opportunity to do well in basketball. There's no specified amount of time that you have to play in either high school or college, but, just to be safe, graduate high school, and then go for at least 4 years in college, and play every season.
